I'm thrilled to share an exciting update in my journey: I've been elected as the Vice Chair (Interim) of the Washington State Board of Nursing (WABON), a position that carries both honor and responsibility.

In November 2023, this appointment marked the beginning of a new chapter, one where I step into the Vice Chair role with a deep sense of commitment and enthusiasm. As the Vice Chair (Interim), I am entrusted with a range of vital duties, including assuming the responsibilities of the Chair as needed and chairing the Legislative Panel—yes, you'll catch me in Olympia on Capitol Hill, advocating for the causes that matter.

My role extends beyond routine duties; I'll be providing crucial assistance to the Chair and Executive Director, representing WABON at the HSQA Boards and Commission Forum, and participating in national events hosted by the National Council of State Board of Nursing (NCSBN). Additionally, I'll be actively engaged in WABON's various task forces, committees, charging panels, and hearings—a commitment to shaping the future of nursing practices.

This journey began with Governor Jay Inslee's appointment, an honor that extends to a 4-year term on the Washington State Board of Nursing—an integral part of the Executive Branch of the State Government. WABON, under my watch, will continue to regulate the competency and quality of licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, advanced registered nurse practitioners, and nursing technicians. We're setting the bar high by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms, and discipline.

In essence, this appointment is not just a title; it's a call to action. It's a commitment to ensuring the highest standards in nursing and contributing to the well-being of our community. I'm excited about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, and I'm honored to play a role in shaping the future of nursing in the state of Washington.

Here's to this new journey, filled with purpose, dedication, and a deep passion for the nursing profession. I can't wait to make a lasting impact and contribute to the continued excellence of the Washington State Board of Nursing.
